Hang a Larry
Suggest a CorrectionMeaning
Turn left, especially while driving. Current but informal and regionally variable Regional use: Canada.
Origin
A recent Canadian rhyming direction formed from the older hang a left. DCHP documents hang a Larry from 2010 and treats it with hang a Roger as a Canadian pair that became socially recognised during the 2010s, apparently from rural slang. Hang a Louie is an older U.S.-associated parallel, but it is not evidence that Larry itself is American.
Variants
- hang a left
- hang a Louie
